PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint device for a floor or a wall preventing the deformation of support members to achieve smooth expansion by avoiding a partial load being applied to the support members even if causing the relative displacement of each building in approaching and separating directions due to an earthquake or the like. SOLUTION: A plurality of turning support means 27 turnable following the relative displacement of facing parts 23a, 23b in approaching and separating directions are mounted with a plurality of support members 28 in a relatively movable manner in a direction orthogonal on the same plane to the direction. Supported members 29 are supported by the respective support members 28 so as to be relatively movable in the orthogonal direction and to be turnable around an axis parallel with the orthogonal direction, and a cover body 31 is fixed to each supported member 29. The cover body 31 extends to one side in a width direction over the upper parts of the adjoining supported members 29, and the mutually adjoining cover bodies 31 cover a joint part 21 in the partially overlapping state.
