A centrifugal scroll screen apparatus has a housing (10) and a rotating screen assembly including a base-of-spoke piece (13) cooperating with the housing (10) to substantially divide the housing into housing portions receiving filtrate and product passing through the base-of-spoke piece (13) respectively. The base of spoke piece (13) and housing (10) including respective labyrinth portions (81, 82), each comprising a replaceable service item. The labyrinth portions collectively comprise a plurality of complementary annular ridges (83) interleaved to create a labyrinth selected to substantially resist filtrate contamination of the product. The housing (10) is selectively separable substantially in the plane of the base-of-spoke piece (13).
