PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device excellent in release property and energy-saving property.SOLUTION: The fixing device employs a belt fixing system, including a fixing roller 21 as a fixing member, a fixing belt 23, a pressurizing roller 22 as a pressurizing member, and a halogen lamp 24 as a heating source that radiates infrared rays. The fixing belt 23 includes a belt base 33 in contact with the fixing roller 21, a belt elastic layer 34 formed on a surface of the belt base 33, and a belt release layer 35 formed on a surface of the belt elastic layer 34 and in contact with a toner image on a recording medium. The pressurizing roller 22 is pressed to contact the fixing roller 21 via the fixing belt 23 and forms a fixing nip between itself and the fixing belt 23, as a region where the recording medium passes. By forming a metal layer 27 that is an infrared ray reflecting layer as a surface layer of the fixing roller 21, radiation heat from the halogen lamp 24 is reflected on the metal layer, which prevents an elastic layer 26 of the fixing roller 21 from directly receiving the radiation heat and prevents overheat damages of the elastic layer 26. |
