PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene involved in regulating the production of a cytokine from macrophages and/or immunocompetent cells, and to provide a method of use thereof.SOLUTION: Disclosed are a gene encoding a protein selected from a specific gene sequence, and the protein. The protein consists of amino acid sequences in which one or some amino acids are deleted, substituted, or added, and consists of amino acid sequences having 90% or more identity with proteins having a cytokine production regulating ability, and has the ability to regulate the production of a cytokine selected from TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-12. A method of regulating the production of a cytokine selected from TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-12 from macrophages and/or immunocompetent cells of Lactobacillus casei YIT 9029 is characterized by modifying the gene so as to inhibit or enhance expressions. |
