PREPARATION METHOD OF POLYCHLORO COPPER PHTHALOCYANINE

PURPOSE: A method for preparing polychloro copper phthalocyanine is provided, which is improved in the brightness of color and the yield. CONSTITUTION: A highly pure polychloro copper phthalocyanine is prepared by reacting copper phthalocyanine with a chlorine gas free from moisture in the presence of a catalyst of ferric chloride in flux media heated to 145-165°C comprising aluminum chloride and sodium chloride; adding the reaction mixture to water of 65-80°C to be slurry, digesting and filtering the mixture. Preferably the catalyst of ferric chloride is used in molten state with aluminum chloride and sodium chloride. The chlorine gas is injected continuously rather than instantaneously. The copper phthalocyanine is used in amount of 25-30 weight parts based on 100 weight parts of the flux media.
