The invention relates to methods and uses of treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in patients in need thereof, and methods for selecting therapeutic dosage amounts to achieve the desired efficacy more quickly. More specifically, the methods of the present invention provide for methylphenidate treatment regimens wherein the efficacious dosage amounts are selected based upon the body weight of the patient to be treated.
