It is intended to provide a method of producing an optical film which is widely usable for improving contrast. This object can be achieved by providing a method of producing an optical film which contains a resin and an additive, characterized by comprising heat melting and kneading the resin with the additive to form a hot molten matter, and casting a resin solution having been prepared by dissolving this hot molten matter in a solvent to thereby give an optical film.
