PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary joint that requires no gear mechanism and is capable of holding the linear polarization surface of each optical fiber even when optical fiber at an incident side and at an emission side relatively rotates.SOLUTION: In a rotary joint 100, a rotation side collimation mechanism and a stationary side collimation mechanism oppose with each other and are relatively rotatably coupled. The rotation side collimation mechanism 110 and the stationary side collimation mechanism 120 include polarization holding type optical fiber 111 and 121, respectively. Collimator lenses 113 and 123 and 1/4 wavelength plates 114 and 124 are disposed on an optical axis at the tip of opposing side of each of the optical fiber 111 and 121, respectively. |
