PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent toner from being leaked out to the outside when detaching a waste toner storing body after storing toner from a toner conveying means to the waste toner storing body by making an intake port of the waste toner storing body communicate with a supply port of the toner conveying means. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the toner (t) removed from the surfaces of image holding members 2 and 11 is conveyed by the toner conveying means 20, and is stored in the waste toner storing body through a discharge port 23 provided on the toner conveying means 20 and the intake port 32 provided on the waste toner storing body 30. The apparatus is provided with a shutter member 31 which opens and shuts the intake port slidably in the waste toner storing body, and a cleaning means 40 which is inserted in the intake port to clean the inner wall surface of the intake port before the intake port is shut by the shutter member when the waste toner storing body is detached from the toner conveying means.
