PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter/receiver having a small number of components and capable of cost reduction and being made compact. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter/receiver is characterized by having: a columnar ferrule which fixes an optical fiber; a submount having a columnar projected part for mounting a light receiving and emitting element; and a cylindrical sleeve for positioning and fixing them. The ferrule has a hole for fixing the optical fiber at a position dislocated from the central axis line of the column, the light receiving and emitting element is mounted on the projected part of the submount at the position dislocated from the central axis line of the column, and it is preferable that the ferrule and the submount are positioned on the central axis line of the sleeve.
