<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device in a virtual space that can move an index to all areas in a three-dimensional image without losing sight of the index and can intuitively grasp a positional relationship between the pointing device and the index. <P>SOLUTION: A virtual space display means displays the three-dimensional image on a screen with respect to a virtual three-dimensional space defined by a computer 3. The pointing device can be directed to a desired direction in an actual space toward the three-dimensional image. A pointing device position/direction detecting unit 41 detects the position and direction of the pointing device in the actual space, and a pointing device length value setting unit 42 gives the overall length of the index by a numeric value.
