<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of preventing the lack of brightness in the region having a limited power consumption and the deterioration of the feeling of contrast with regard to the image display device that limits the power consumption and displays an image according to the average brightness level of a displayed image signal. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device has an average brightness level detection circuit 13 for detecting the average brightness level of the inputted image signal and a power limiting circuit 14 for performing a control of a driver 16 that drives a PDP 17 by means of a detection signal from the average brightness level detection circuit 13. Further, the image display device is provided with an average brightness level lowering circuit 12 for lowering the average brightness level of the inputted image signal on the preceding step of the average brightness level detection circuit 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
