TRANSPOSON TRANSPOSASE AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein having activities of a transposon transposase, a gene encoding the protein, and a method for producing a transformant by utilizing the gene.

SOLUTION: The gene encoding the transposase of MITE (Miniature Inverted repeat Transposable Element)-shaped transposon Organdy derived from Bombyx mori is discovered by extracting the genome DNA of the Bombyx mori, and carrying out a PCR and sequencing by a TIR-specific primer. It is proved that the gene encodes the new transposon transposase.
