The engine has a fuel fractioning unit to fraction the fuel into different parliamentary groups. The engine is suitable for the conducting a self- igniting homogeneous space ignition method. A fuel supply unit is provided, which is dependent on an operating parameter of the engine, where the engine supplies a fuel parliamentary group. A number of revolutions and a load of the engine are detected as operating parameter. An independent claim is also included for a method for the operation of an internal-combustion engine.
