PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contamination of a product with foreign matter, improve the recovery of crystals and control heterogenization of the quality of the product by contamination of the solid content, or crystals, in the subsequent batch. SOLUTION: A vertical solid-liquid centrifugal separator includes a vertical rotation shaft 1, a bottomed cylindrical basket 10 whose peripheral wall serves as a solid-liquid separation wall 11 impermeable to the solid content and permeable to the liquid content and in the bottom of which a discharge hole 12A discharging the separated solid content is formed, and a stopper 20 having an umbrella-like portion choking the discharge hole and engaged in the periphery of the rotation shaft 1. The separator is provided with a first magnet 31 arranged in the stopper 20, a rising and falling body 40 rising and falling vertically and a second magnet 32 which is arranged in the rising and falling body 40 and opposes the first magnet 31 at a position below the first magnet 31 so as to produce a repulsive interaction between the magnets 31 and 32. As the rising and falling body 40 rises or falls, the stopper 20 rises or falls, respectively, while the stopper 20 and the rising and falling body 40 keep in a non-contact state through the repulsive interaction between the magnets 31 and 32.
