PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which accurately extracts a name of an object existing in a taken image from map information and adds the name of the object as incidental information to image data. SOLUTION: An electronic camera includes: an imaging means for generating an image of an object by photoelectric conversion; a photographing information generating means for generating, during photographing, photographing information of the image including a photographing angle, a photographing direction, photographing viewing angle and a photographing position; a map information storing means for storing map information having a correspondence relationship between the name of the object and the position of the object; a name extracting means for extracting the name of the object existing in the image from the map information by using the photographing information; and an incidental information adding means for adding the name of the object extracted by the name extracting means as incidental information to the data of the image.
