<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low molecular hydro-gelling agent which forms a biocompatible hydrogel and has a new molecular structure, and to provide a biocompatible hydrogel. <P>SOLUTION: The biocompatible hydro-gelling agent contains an oligoethylene glycol structure-bound benzamide derivative represented by formula (1) [X is OH or NH<SB>2</SB>; (m) is an integer of 1 to 100; (n) is an integer of 11 to 17] as an active ingredient.
