The device has a display and evaluation unit, where the device determines rotation rate of a wheel by a direct rotation speed-dependent ripple of measurable current characteristics or voltage of a constantly running dynamo i.e. hub dynamo. The display and evaluation unit is connected with the dynamo in such a manner that evaluatable characteristics of current signals for evaluation and display are transferred within the device. The display and evaluation unit is connected with the dynamo by a cable or other current conductors.
