The present invention relates to a vehicle auxiliary device based on an infrared image, the vehicle auxiliary device comprising: an infrared image receiving unit for receiving a series of infrared images; an object-to-be-collided-with detection unit for detecting an object to be collided with from the most recent infrared image among the infrared images; and a collision possibility determination unit for determining an expected movement path of a vehicle on the basis of a steering angle of a handle, and for determining the possibility of collision with the object to be collided with on the basis of the expected movement path. Therefore, an object having the possibility of collision with a vehicle can be detected through an infrared camera.
