The invention relates to inspection equipment, and can be used in particular for measuring deformations (strains) in various structures using piezo-optical transducers. A device for measuring deformations comprises a piezo-optical transducer housing with a photoelastic element disposed therein, which is fastened to an item to be inspected by means of a loading element via spherical supports. The surfaces of the photoelastic element that are perpendicular to the optical axis are optically flat, while the lateral surfaces have a constant and/or variable radius of curvature. When seen in plan view, the photoelastic element is in the shape of a star having an undefined number of arms with a single centre, thus providing for measurement of a deformation arising in any direction in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the piezo-optical transducer. |
