The method involves supplying the compressed gas with a maximum gas pressure from a compressed gas source of a drive apparatus (1), for enabling the impeller (2) into a rotational movement. The drive apparatus is provided with a valve (4) for setting the gas pressure and/or flow of the compressed gas. The impeller is operated with the constant rotational speed, by setting the gas pressure and/or flow of gas within a limited load range. The rotation speed is reduced upon reaching of a pressure value of the compressed gas, which is less than the maximum gas pressure.
