PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery capable of being charged at a high current density while preventing a short circuit, and a method for charging the lithium secondary battery.SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery comprises: a negative electrode layer containing Li metal or Li alloy; a positive electrode layer containing a positive electrode active material; and a solid electrolyte layer provided between the negative electrode layer and the positive electrode layer and containing a lithium ion conductive ceramic material including Li, La, Zr, and O and having a garnet type crystal structure or a crystal structure similar to the garnet type crystal structure. The lithium secondary battery is charged at a current density (Ie/Sc) of 300 μA/cmor higher indicating current Ie with respect to the contact area Sc between the solid electrolyte layer and the negative electrode layer at 50°C or higher.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
