PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll for continuous casting provided with excellent hot wear resistance and having a long service life. SOLUTION: A sprayed coating layer of 0.5 to 3 mm composed of an (Ni-based or Co-based) self-fluxing alloy comprising carbide such as tungsten carbide, chromium carbide, niobium carbide and vanadium carbide or the grains of the above carbide or compound carbide thereof or a mixture thereof bound with one or more metal binders by 10 to 50wt.%, and the balance C of 0.02 to 0.25wt.% and Cr of 0.5 to 15wt.% is formed on the surface of a roll base material.
