PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect the the filling of molten metal into a cavity with a simple configuration in a casting apparatus using a mold composed of a metal mold and a sand mold. SOLUTION: The casting apparatus 1 has the mold 40 composed of: the sand mold; and the metal mold, which is set on the upper part of the sand mold and with which the cavity is formed together with the sand mold. A coating layer is formed on the forming surface of the metal mold, and an electromagnetic pump device 21 for supplying the molten metal M into the cavity in the mold 40 from the sand mold side is provided. a sequencer 51 detects the electrical conduction between the molten metal M and the metal mold are electrically conducted by the contact of the molten metal M with the coating layer, and controls the electromagnetic pump device 21 based on this detected result.
