ABRASIVE BLASTING PROCESS

A process for making an abrasive composition in which from about 50 to about 85 weight percent of electric arc furnace dust is mixed in mixer (10) with at least 10 weight percent of silica to form a mixture, the mixture is melted at a temperature of from about 2300 to 2900 F in furnace (22) to form a glass melt, the glass melt is quenched by reducing its temperature at least 1000 F in less than 5 seconds and then crushed in crusher (54) by subjecting it to a pressure of at least about 1.0 MPa.
