A phasor representation of an electrical entity at a geographical locatio n in a multiple phase AC electric power system is produced by receiving a sy nchronization signal from a remote source, producing a sampling time signal in response to the synchronization signal and a local reference time signal, and producing samples representing an amount of the entity in respective on es of the phases in the AC power system in response to the sampling time sig nal and the electrical entity in respective ones of the phases in the AC pow er system. A transformation is performed on the samples to produce a two-axi s rotating reference frame representation of the electrical entity in a two- axis rotating reference frame. For each sample, a representation of a sampli ng time associated with the sample is produced. The two-axis rotating refere nce frame representation and the representation of the sampling time compris e the phasor representation.
