PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signals processing method for image display by which color breakup or blurring caused upon displaying moving images is reduced, and to provide an image display device. SOLUTION: The signals processing method for image display is carried out by a field sequential color display system in which at least one of R, G, B light sources emits light in continuous three subfields in a plurality of subfields produced by dividing one frame period, wherein the three subfields consist of a first subfield in which at least a G light source emits light, a second subfield in which at least an R light source emits light, and a third subfield in which at least a B light source emits light. The method includes, in the above three subfields, a determination step of determining a light emission time of the light source in accordance with an image input signal, a generation step of generating an image output signal in accordance with the determined light emission time, and a display step of displaying an image based on the generated image output signal.
