PURPOSE: A backfire preventing system of apparatus for generating and burning a large amount of brown gas is provided to protect manpower, equipment and facilities and secure safe working environment by certainly cutting off backfire generated during low pressure ignition, power stoppage or mechanical failure, thereby preventing implosion in gas generator. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for generating and burning brown gas in which brown gas generated from gas generator(10) is supplied to burner(20) so that the brown gas is burnt in discharge port of the burner, the backfire preventing system comprises a flash back filter(30) comprising an anti-flame device which is installed at an upper stream of the burner, and on which ultrafine holes are formed; a cutout valve(40) installed at an upper stream of the flash back filter to block flow of gas during emergency; an automatic flow control valve(50) installed at an upper stream of the cutout valve to constantly maintain pressure of gas; a drain pipe(60) connected to a supply pipe between the flash back filter and the cutout valve; a discharge valve(61) installed on the drain pipe; an extinguishing valve(70) installed on an air supply pipe(72) connected between an air compressor(71) and the burner to supply air to a side of discharge port of the burner during extinguishing of the burner; a flash back sensor(80) mounted on the flash back filter to transmit sensed signals to the control part by sensing light of flame backfired from the burner; and a control part(90) for closing the valves by outputting control signals to the cutout valve and the automatic flow control valve and opening the valves by outputting the control signals to the discharge valve and the extinguishing valve in case of receiving the sensed signals from the flash back sensor.
