A method for stabilizing rabeprazole sodium is provided to secure the stability of the unstable rabeprazole sodium under acidic condition by using an alkaline material as a stabilizer. A method comprises the steps of: (a) preparing a core tablet including 5-20 parts by weight of sodium carbonate and other pharmaceutically acceptable additives regarding 1 part by weight of rabeprazole sodium; (b) coating an intermediate film such as hydroxypropylcellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and a mixture thereof on the core tablet; and (c) coating a sustained release polymer, such as phthalic acid hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, succinic acid hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, phthalic acid cellulose acetate, and methacrylic acid copolymer, including an alkaline material such as sodium carbonate.
