PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor optical amplification device capable of facilitating routing of an optical fiber and allowing reduction in size of the whole communication device.SOLUTION: A semiconductor optical amplification device 1A comprises: a semiconductor optical amplification element 41; a first package 10 storing therein the semiconductor optical amplification element 41; a lens 55 which is provided on a sidewall of the first package 10 and through which an optical axis L1 extending from one end of the semiconductor optical amplification element 41 passes; a glass window material 51 which is provided on the sidewall of the first package 10 and through which an optical axis L2 extending from the other end of the semiconductor optical amplification element 41 passes; and a first optical connection part 22 fixed to the sidewall of the first package 10 on which the lens 55 is provided, and connected to the outside.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
