PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper alloy exhibiting sliding properties equal to those of the conventional copper alloy for a sliding member using lead and molybdenum disulfide without using lead, molybdenum disulfide, zirconium, manganese, nickel, graphite, zinc and antimony. SOLUTION: The copper alloy for a sliding member has a composition comprising, by mass, 5.0 to 20.0% tin, 0.3 to 10.0% iron, 0.01 to 5.0% silicon and 0.1 to 3.0% sulfur, and the balance copper and residual components.
