PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous vacuum carburizing furnace where each transferring device for a workpiece is not exposed to a vacuum carburizing atmosphere in a carburizing chamber, and deterioration in the transferring device and the defect in its operation caused by vacuum carburizing can be prevented. SOLUTION: In the continuous vacuum carburizing furnace having an anterior chamber 2, a heating chamber 3, a carburizing chamber 4 and a cooling chamber 8 arrange in series, the space between the heating chamber 3 and the carburizing chamber 4, and the space between the carburizing chamber 4 and the cooling chamber 8 are provided with carrying chambers 6, 9 via partition doors, respectively and further, the heating chamber 3, the carburizing chamber 4 and the cooling chamber 8 are provided with racks 25 for supporting workpieces, respectively, transferring devices 30 each provided with a telescopic type arm flexibly driven to both the directions of the front and the rear on a base material part driven so as to be elevated are provided at the carrying chambers 6, 9 respectively. and, by each transferring device 30, the workpiece W in the treatment chamber on the prestage side in each carrying chamber is transferred to the inside of the treatment chamber on the poststage side.
