PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a P-containing high-strength steel sheet for hot dip galvannealing, which has bake hardenability and can inhibit the occurrence of surface defects such as a striped pattern, and to provide a hot dip galvannealed steel sheet. SOLUTION: The steel sheet for hot dip galvannealing is characterized in that: it has a composition consisting of, by mass, 0.0001 to 0.015% C, 0.001 to 0.45% Si,≥0.20% Mn,≥0.02% P,≤0.015% S,≤0.008% Al, 0.002 to 0.10% Ti, 0.0005 to 0.004% N, further≤0.3%, in total, of one or more elements among Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo and Sn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities; and its acid-soluble Ti content satisfies conditions in inequality [%C]×4+[%N]×48/14-0.006%≤[%Ti]≤[%C]×4+[%N]×48/14-0.002%.
