PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly active metal catalyst which has a high metal surface area and further can be used for both a liquid phase and a gas phase in which an active metal component is not affected by other components and to provide a metal catalyst obtained by the method.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a metal catalyst having a metal component content of 60-95 mass%, which comprises the following steps (1) to (5). (1) A step of obtaining a metal oxide having a BET specific surface area of 50 m/g or more from one or more metal salts. (2) A step of adding the metal oxide into an aqueous solvent. (3) A step of adding a structure stabilizer into the aqueous solvent. (4) A step of separating the metal oxide to which the structure stabilizer is added from the aqueous solvent, followed by washing with water and drying.(5) A step of subjecting the metal oxide to which the structure stabilizer obtained by separating from the aqueous solvent and then washing with water and drying is added to reduction treatment to metallize the metal oxide.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
