1. A method of electrical power generation in a vehicle, the method including:
receiving, by a power boost regulator, alternating current (AC) power from an AC generator coupled to an output of an engine of a vehicle; detecting a rotational speed of the engine; selecting, by an electronic controller of the power boost regulator, an operating point for the AC generator based on the detected engine speed and at least one operating parameter, the operating point being selected from a first operating point having a first voltage level and a first current level and a second operating point having a second voltage level and a second current level, wherein the AC generator is operative to provide the same power output level when operating at the first and second operating points; and controlling, by the power boost regulator, the AC generator to generate the AC power at the selected operating point. |
