MICROPLATE-READER WITH CONTROLLED GAS ATMOSPHERE AND CORRESPONDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microplate reader which enables observation of reactions in samples and detection of specific sample components under at least approximately physiological conditions.SOLUTION: A microplate reader 1 comprises at least one measurement unit 2', 2'', 2''' and a holding unit 5 for accommodating at least one microplate 4 and for positioning samples-containing wells 3 of the microplate 4. The measurement device is used for detecting light which is emitted by samples in the wells 3 and/or influenced by samples transilluminated by light in the wells 3 of the microplate 4 inserted in the microplate reader 1. The microplate reader 1 includes a control unit 6 for controlling the composition of a gas atmosphere 7 surrounding the wells 3 containing the samples.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
