PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system capable of easily observing an intended site from many directions and preventing a hypoxia state of a patient when inserting the endoscope. SOLUTION: This endoscope system 100 is provided with the endoscope 30 having an insertion part 28 provided with a curved part 25, curved by an operation of an operation means 27 of an operation part 26, in its tip; and an overtube 1 having a flexible tube part 3, or a tubular member, for inserting the insertion part 28 of the endoscope 30 and passively curved by the change in the shape of the inserted insertion part 28, and a shape retaining means 4 fixing the flexible tube part 3 in an arbitrary shape, when the insertion part 28 is inserted. The overtube 1, when the insertion part 28 is inserted and fixed in the over tube 1, has such a length that, at least, the curved part 25 is extended from the tip of the overtube 1.
