PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability by suppressing capacity drop and increase of internal resistance in the case of a high temperature loading of an electric double layer capacitor. SOLUTION: In the electric double layer capacitor consisting of a polarizable electrode and organic electrolyte with propylene carbonate, etc. as a solvent, the organic electrolyte is shown by the following chemical formula. 0.01 to 1.0 wt% tetraphenyl phosphonium tetraphenylborate is dissolved as a solvent degradation inhibitor.
