PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrolytic solution for an electric double layer capacitor, which can offer an electric double layer capacitor stable in quality; an electric double layer capacitor arranged by use of such an electrolytic solution; and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: An electric double layer capacitor comprises: a storage container 2 sealed off by a lid 10 and a container main body 20; at least a pair of polarizable electrodes opposed to each other with a separator 46 located therebetween in the storage container; and an electrolytic solution 50 containing a supporting electrolyte, sulfolane and chain sulfone. In the separator 46, an interposed part 46a held between and by the pair of polarizable electrodes and an outer peripheral part 46b extending outwardly from the interposed part 46a are formed. The separator crude density expressed by the following formula is over 1 to 4: Crude density of the separator=Porosity of the outer peripheral part/Porosity of the interposed part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
