PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant composition for an internal combustion engine, excellent in fuel economy, sludge suppression and engine cleaning. SOLUTION: The lubricant composition for internal combustion engine contains in a lubricant base oil (A) an ashless dispersant, (B) a viscosity index improver having 10-100 PSSI (permanent shear stability index) and at least one selected from (C) a metallic cleaner, (D) an antioxidant, (E) an abrasion preventive and (F) a friction modifier, and has≥32 numerical ratio of viscosity index (VI) of the composition to HTHS viscosity (HV100, unit; mPa s) of the composition at 100°C (VI/HV100).
