An FDS(Fraud Detection System) for credit cards is provided to minimize damage of credit card frauds by making a card user and a credit card company take management quickly, as the frauds are quickly detected with smaller data by using a consumption pattern parameter database based on a consumption pattern analysis. A plurality of important factors are measured in quantitative consumption pattern parameters by using a consumption pattern analysis for an ordinary customer, the consumption pattern parameters are stored in the database, and the fraud of the credit cards is checked by using the consumption pattern parameters(S301). A calculated fraud possibility value is divided into a normal, attention, watching, and arrest level(S302). The fraud is informed to an owner of the credit card or is reported to a police station according to the determined level. A credit card payment is refused when the fraud is detected(S108), and a normal authentication procedure is advanced when the fraud is not detected(S103). |
