PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the required operation to an operation input section, while enabling selection of a broadcast channel in the case of menu selection of the setting item in a television receiver, or contents setup (value setup). SOLUTION: A selection menu video image including information on two or more setting items to a television receiver X and the numbers matched with each item is made to superimpose on a program image of the broadcast channel so as to display on a monitor screen (S2). In such a state, the mode of operation is switched between "SC mode" and "channel selection mode", based on the detection of a predetermined key operation to the operation input section (S4). In the case of the "SC mode", the setting item corresponding to the number is selected, based on the detection of the operation to the number key (S7), and on the other hand, in the case of the "channel selection mode", the broadcast channel is selected, based on the detection of the operation to the number key (S10).
