An arc resistant acrylic fiber that comprises 1-30 wt% inclusive of an infrared absorber relative to the total weight of an acrylic polymer. A fabric for an arc protective clothing, said fabric comprising the aforesaid arc resistant acrylic fiber, wherein the content of the infrared absorber is 0.5 wt% or more relative to the total weight of the fabric. A fabric for an arc protective clothing, said fabric comprising a cellulose-based fiber, an infrared absorber and a flame retardant and having an average total reflectivity for incident light of a wavelength of 750-2500 nm of 60% or lower. An arc protective clothing that comprises the aforesaid fabric for an arc protective clothing.
