PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for obtaining an image free from discomfort, when generating an image, captured under virtual shooting conditions, from an image after shooting.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus has classification means for classifying S303 an input image into a main subject area and a background area, determination means for determining S304 virtual shooting conditions corresponding to the output image to be generated, on the basis of the positional relationship in the shooting environment of the main subject and the background subject at the time of shooting the input image, generation means for generating S307 the background image of the output image corresponding to the virtual shooting conditions, and synthesis means for generating an output image by synthesizing S308 an image classified to the main subject area out of the input image, and the background image generated by the generation means. The classification means classifies the background image into a plurality of areas depending on the subject distance in the depth direction. The generation means sets the deformation processing of an image for each area classified by the classification means, and performs the same deformation processing for the subjects having the subject distance farther than a predetermined distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
