The present invention relates to information providing system and method. The information providing system comprises: a display unit for displaying first product sales information or second product sales information included in one category from first to third categories that classify common properties of products in order from top to bottom and included in each category from the first to third categories; a reception unit for receiving a first gesture signal, which is a motion that a user touches a screen remarkably rapidly on the display unit by using a finger of the user or a touch tool, and a second gesture signal having directivity, which is a motion that the user touches a region of the display unit and slidably moves the touching finger or the touch tool in a specific direction; and a control unit for controlling at least one piece of product sales information included in one category from the first to third categories to be displayed in response to the reception of the first gesture signal, and the second product sales information to be displayed in response to the reception of the first gesture signal for one piece of first sales information among at least one piece of first sales information included each category from the first to third categories, and at least one piece of the first product information included in the third category, which is an upper category of the second product sales information, to be displayed in response to the reception of the second gesture signal according to a first direction while the second product sales information is displayed. |
