PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of inevitable deterioration (lifetime) caused by the acceleration of reaction on the catalytic surface in an oxidizing agent, an adsorbent or the like, to eliminate time lags until the reaction at the catalytic surface of the oxidizing agent is completed, the adsorbent or the like in a mode of SO<SB>2</SB>/H<SB>2</SB>S and to prevent the adaptation of a measuring range due to the coexisting amount with the other component or the amount of another component, even in the case of the low concentration of a specific component to be measured with respect to the decomposition capacity error due to the ratio of the coexisting concentration of SO<SB>2</SB>/H<SB>2</SB>S. SOLUTION: A sample gas containing SO<SB>2</SB>/H<SB>2</SB>S is introduced into a gas inlet passage 11, and H<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>mist is developed at the terminal part of the gas introducing passage and brought into contact with the sample gas to react SO<SB>2</SB>in the sample gas with H<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>to absorb the same. H<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>, containing the reaction component, is recovered 12 as a liquid phase and the sample gas from which SO<SB>2</SB>is removed is measured by a sulfur responsive detector 13, to constitute a component measuring method for specifying the amount of the H<SB>2</SB>S component.
