AUTHENTICATION APPARATUS AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication apparatus and an authentication method capable of performing user authentication at a high speed by automating collation between user information described on an identification card of a user and user information described on an authentication application sheet.

SOLUTION: The authentication apparatus includes: a communication means 11 for receiving the user information of the user via a network 2; a data acquisition means 12 for acquiring image data of the identification card of the user; a user information extract means 13 for extracting the user information from the image data acquired by the data acquisition means 12; an authentication means 16 that compares the user information received by the communication means 11 with the user information extracted by the user information extract means 13 and discriminates whether or not the user information items are coincident with each other; and a user information storage means 19 that classifies the user information items into those coincident with each other and those dissident with each other on the basis of a discrimination result by the authentication means 16 and records the user information items.
