<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump water heater capable of performing boiling-up operation of high efficiency by a heat pump, and boiling up the whole water in a hot water storage tank to a high temperature even when the water of medium temperature of comparatively high temperature, is stored in the hot water storage tank. <P>SOLUTION: The heat pump hot water supplier is equipped with a boil-up circuit D which connects a hot water tank 1, a boil-up pump 7, a three-way valve 21, a sub-tank 22 provided at halfway of piping between a pressure reducing pressure control valve 23 and a hot and cold water mixing valve 24 and a water coolant heat exchanger 17. Part of piping of the boil-up circuit D between the three-way valve 21 and the water coolant heat exchanger 17 is provided in the sub-tank 22 and heat exchange is executed with water in the sub-tank 22. Even in the case that hot water in the hot water tank 1 becomes intermediate temperature by operation of reheating of bathtub water or heating, the intermediate temperature water is supplied to the water coolant heat exchanger 17, after the hot water in the hot water tank 1 is cooled to be cold water by the sub-tank 22, thereby heat pump efficiency can be improved.
