An image forming apparatus uses a pressing roller and a fixing roller that are pressing and contacting each other to sandwich a record medium, for fixing toner image onto the record medium. In order to inhibit in a non-paper passing area a temperature from extremely rising, a temperature detecting section detects a temperature (Tx) at the fixing roller via a thermistor installed in the non-paper passing area (S1-4); a temperature comparing section compares this detected temperature (Tx) with a predetermined standard temperature (T1(S1-7)); a print controlling section reduces a heat amount provided to the fixing roller for a predetermined period when this detected temperature exceeds the standard temperature (S1-8). |
