PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information management system and an information management method preventing leakage of particular information such as personal information. SOLUTION: The information management system is provided with user terminals 2<SB>1</SB>-2<SB>m</SB>used for operation to a file, and a management server 1 managing operation information showing an operation when an operation is applied to a file including particular information such as personal information in a user terminal. The management server 1 is provided with a database 11 storing character data representing words related to the particular information. The user terminals 2<SB>1</SB>-2<SB>m</SB>are provided with processing parts 2A determining whether or not the character data related to the particular information is in the file on the basis of the character data stored in the database 11 of the management server 1 when operation is applied to the file, secondary storages 2B, main memories 2C, and communication parts 2G.
